A couple of weeks ago I posted new music from Lykke Li, my other favorite Swedish singer next to Robyn. The song “Get Some” is a bold declaration of longing and lust with booming kettle drums that propel its tribal bounce.
The official video directed by compatriot Johan Söderberg (who has edited Madonna’s “Sorry” and Beyonce’s “Me, Myself & I”) finally got released this week featuring Lykke in sexy tatters singing in front of projections of a retro-shock world where bikini-clad women seem to be ruling, rejoicing and exacting revenge. Then there’s a trippy, house of mirrors effect that presents Lykke as the ultimate shape shifter. A nod to her elusive feminine mystique perhaps…
Argh, but I’m a lil salty that her Dec. 1 show at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge is already sold out. She returns to the Gritty in May to perform at Webster Hall. Tickets go on-sale Nov. 19. Must set my iCal alert for that one. Who’s with me?
