Ever since the release of her Live in L.A. EP last fall, the buzz, at least in Europe, around Lianne La Havas has been steadily building.
Now “Forget,” the title track from her latest EP, gets a video treatment and it’s quite clear that La Havas has an incredibly bright future.
We’ve already mentioned that she’s had a lilting duet with Willy Mason on “No Room For Doubt,” and a co-sign and tour spot from Bon Iver‘s Justin Vernon. Since then La Havas has had some pretty awesome remixes done for “Forget” courtesy of producers Shlohmo and Two Inch Punch so it seems like the British singer-songwriter has positioned herself really well.
Even Vogue.com, who named her its Artist of the Week, is on the La Havas bandwagon.
It totally helps that her voice can turn forceful then tender so effortlessly. On Lost & Found, another EP she released in November, she displays that exact skill, singing delicate love songs (ie., “No Room For Doubt”) then upping the tempo and bravado (ie., a cover of Everything Everything‘s “Final Form”).
She’s been touring all over Europe for the last several months but in March, she visits NYC’s Mercury Lounge for an intimate set.
See for yourself what all the hubbub’s been about if you’re the Apple.
